Last Sunday was our very first weekend Crafternoon, held at Harvest & Cater, Boat Harbour (thanks for looking after us!)
We chatted over bubbles and crafty projects as the rain poured (and poured, and poured) down outside. A Crafternoon's a good idea at any time really, but on a rainy Sunday afternoon? Well, there's nothing much better!
A huge, huge thanks to Helen, Karen, Em and Angie who all braved the weather to come along - it was awesome catching up with all of you ladies! It was wonderful seeing all the different projects people were working on like embroidery, crochet, beadwork, rock sculpture and knitting (that was me and my five year scarf - no exaggeration on the five years bit, btw.)
At this stage it's looking like we'll stick to the weekend format - it seems to work a bit easier for most people. If you couldn't make it along to this one, we hope to see you next time! Keep an eye on our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for details. Let us know if you have any suggestions for venues using the link below, or the comment section.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

To celebrate our re-branding, we've created a Redbubble shop where you can get your hands on a variety of products featuring our new look. There are mugs, stickers, tote bags, cushion covers, phone cases, laptop covers, notebooks and even scarves!
Every single cent goes back into Seedsmiths, helping us to help the community to make, learn, grow.
Use the link above, or click on the SHOP tab at the top of the page to visit our store and make your purchase.
Thanks for your support!

Can you feel it? Spring has sprung and we definitely can! With the beginning of daylight savings and a bit more sunshine around the place, it's hard not to. There are lots of bits and pieces on the boil for Seedsmiths, so here's a Spring update for you ...
WHAT WE'VE BOTH BEEN UP TO
Michelle has been teaching full-time during Term 3 and Term 4 at Hellyer College and I've continued part-time at Marist. At the same time, we've both been tinkering away our various side-projects. Michelle has spent some time working with BigHart teaching iPhoneography to young people and I've been doing wedding, family and social media photography for Look See. You can see a little bit of what our planning meetings look like in some of the photos above (there must be coffee and there must be food, cake is sometimes nice too!)
We began hosting regular week-day Crafternoons in the winter months, and we're pleased to say there has now been enough interest to offer weekend sessions. Our first weekend Crafternoon will be held at Harvest and Cater, Boat Harbour on the 16th of October, starting at 2pm. You can register your interest in attending on our event page. It's most likely that we will continue weekend sessions at this stage, rather than the week-day sessions. Thanks to those who have attended already - we hope to see you at a future weekend crafternoon! Huge thanks to Jo & Co Cafe, Penguin and Secret Buddha Cafe, Burnie for hosting our previous sessions. If you're a cafe owner/manager and are interested in hosting us for an upcoming crafternoon, please get in touch, we'd like to be able to visit a variety of cafes along the coast to keep it interesting!
UPCOMING WORKSHOPS, COURSES, EVENTS
Keep an eye out for more information about upcoming workshops (if you haven't 'Liked' us on Facebook yet, or followed us on Instagram or Twitter, these are great ways to find out what's happening with us.) We are hoping to run two iPhoneography workshops in the not-too-distant future. One with hints, tips and tricks for personal iPhoneography for grown-up-type-people (we ran a very successful youth-based workshop for Youth Week last year) and one specifically for small business, with a focus on creating high-quality images with your iPhone for use on social media; touching on social media etiquette as well as using it as a means to create close links to your community. As part of these iPhoneography workshops, we're hoping to host another Instameet, we held one as part of our launch last year and it was a great (if foggy) afternoon out at Table Cape Lighthouse. If you have suggestions for a specific location, or if you're a local business and would like to host us for an Instameet (talk about a great way of utilising free publicity, think of all those hashtags!) again, get in touch!
We have some other very exciting bits & pieces that are still in planning stages at the moment - we're really looking forward to sharing those with you as soon as we're able to! Yes, that sounds very secret-squirrel-ish but it will have to be that way for a smidgen longer! As always, keep in touch with us on social media for regular updates and news.
CAN YOU TEACH SOMETHING WITH US?
We've had lots of people tell us they're keen to run a workshop or course through us - we'd love you to get on board! Head to our teacher information page and read about the process. From there you can download our application form. We'll check it out, make any suggestions that might help and begin promoting your workshop/course, organise a venue and manage bookings. Once we have the required numbers, it's all systems go. We take care of all the organisation behind the scenes for you, so all you need to do (once you've completed the initial paperwork) is turn up and teach.
If you're keen to do this but are a bit worried about the actual teaching part - please don't be! As qualified teachers (and creatives ourselves), both Michelle and I there to support you, generally one (or sometimes both) of us will be there on the day to assist. Think of it more as a group of (perhaps new, perhaps old) friends gathering together to learn and create. We're happy to meet up with you over a cuppa (cake, anyone?) and answer any questions you might have; get in touch (I know, I know, I keep saying that!) and we'll arrange a suitable time.
And if you took the time read through all of that, phew and thank you! We hope that the new season is putting a spring in your step like it is ours!
