Just an aside: I have to be totally honest with you and tell you I didn't even realise I'd left out the 'h' in exhibition on the chalkboard until I looked at the photos afterwards! Yikes! I do know how to spell it, promise! Aherm, moving right along ...
Last night was the culmination of a huge amount of work by Michelle in organising and curating the Youth Week Photography Exhibition at ArtsCape. The exhibition opening was fabulous - a large number of people turned up to celebrate these very talented, local young photographers. Awards were given out for a number of categories and I have to say I'm glad I didn't have to try and choose the award winners - the standard of work was incredibly high. It is so exciting to be able to see how creative the kids in our community are.
The winners were -
Encouragement Award: Jasmin Anderson & Angela Woolnough
Personal Impression category: 1st - Jasmine Nichols; 2nd - Peter Streat
Sense of Place category: 1st - Joel Humphries; 2nd - Toby Moore
It Starts With Us category: 1st - Issabelle Ward Meade; 2nd - Logan Butt
Congratulations to all the winners. A very big thank you to the council and the National Youth Week people who provided the grant for Michelle to run the exhibition and for Seedsmiths to run the iPhoneography workshop beforehand.
The exhibition will be open at various times over the next week or so. Check out our FB page for updates on days and opening hours. Make sure you come along to see how the artists have interpreted the Youth Week themes - it's definitely worth a look!
